Austria Starts Using The Euro on January 1st 2002
On new year's day 2002, Austria, like the other 11 members of the Eurozone, started using Euro notes and Euro coins for cash transactions. Within a few months, the old coins and banknotes in Schillings will be withdrawn. We expect to have uncirculated sets of Euro coins from all of the twelve member countries available in January 2002, and are accepting advance orders now.

Packaging & Presentation
We expect to have uncirculated mint sets of coins from all 12 Euro zone countries in stock during January 2002. We have information about official issue mint or proof sets. All of the countries will issue uncirculated sets, but many will not issue proof sets.
Our own sets are packaged in an attractive plastic case allowing the coins to be viewed from both sides.
We show a photograph of the folder used for the official Austrian Mint set, and also the insert of our own packaging.

2 Euro This shows a portrait of the radical pacifist Bertha von Suttner, a symbol of Austria’s efforts over many decades, to support peace.
1 Euro This coin shows Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the famous Austrian composer, depicting Austria as a land of music.
50 Euro Cents This coin shows the secession building in Vienna, illustrating the birth of art nouveau in Austria and symbolising the birth of a new age, representing a bridge to a new monetary era.
20 Euro Cents This coin shows the Belvedere Palace, one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Austria. This was where the Treaty re-establishing the sovereignty of Austria was signed in 1955, making its name synonymous with freedom.
10 Euro Cents This depicts St. Stephen’s Cathedral, one of the jewels of Viennese Gothic architecture and a popular tourist venue.
5 Euro Cents This shows alpine primroses, as part of a floral series, symbolising a duty to the environment and the part Austria is playing in the development of a Community environmental policy.
2 Euro Cents This shows the edelweiss, again as part of a floral series, symbolising a duty to the environment and the part Austria is playing in the development of a Community environmental policy.
1 Euro Cent This coin shows a gentian, as the last part of the floral series, symbolising a duty to the environment and the part Austria is playing in the development of a Community environmental policy.
