First United Kingdom Euro Coin Patterns
UK & The Euro
We believe that the United Kingdom will eventually join the Euro, along with about a dozen others countries. It is not known whether any official plans have been made to produce pattern designs for a set of British euro coins. It is likely that if any designs have already been considered, they will have been kept top secret for political reasons.
Unofficial Patterns
On a number of previous occasions, especially before major coinage changes, pattern coins have been produced as a design exercise or to test public opinion. Many of these have been privately produced. Earlier this year we were shown a set of trial or pattern euro coins, with suggested British designs, and have now managed to buy a quantity of them, and have them in stock for immediate delivery. The pattern coins bear three different designs for the eight circulation type coins from €2 to 1¢, plus a fourth design for the €5 denomination. Originally they were only available as a complete set in proof quality. There is also an 8 coin "mint" set in uncirculated finish, a silver proof set, and a silver piedfort €5.

Notes
Sold Out* = We have now sold out. It is possible that we will have a few sets left after all existing orders have been despatched. Any orders received now will be accepted provisionally, and filled if we have any spare, otherwise we will send a refund.
Productions Delays
The whole production of these sets were dogged by production delays. The dies for the large, 5 Euro coin broke several times, and the retaining collar also. This may be partially because of the high relief, which makes them more attractive. As noted above, we have now received our entire allocation, and our looking forward to receiving the silver sets during October.
