British Euro Pattern Coins
Demand for these has been astounding. The base metal version has almost sold out, and is now fetching €125 to €180 per set on ebay!
The producers have now announced a:-
Sterling Silver Version
With a very low issue limit of only 2,500 sets, this silver proof version has already sold out at source!
The base metal version was limited to 20,000 sets, and is sold out everywhere. We had a few sets only thanks to a cancellation.
Obviously the silver set is more expensive than the base metal set, although we are currently offering it at less than the ebay prices of the base metal version. Please see our price and availability table below.
Silver Piedfort €5
The 5 euro coin is also being issued as a silver proof piedfort.
Unofficial Patterns
On a number of previous occasions, especially before major coinage changes, pattern coins have been produced as a design exercise or to test public opinion. Many of these have been privately produced. Earlier this year we were shown a set of trial or pattern euro coins, with suggested British designs, and have now managed to buy a quantity of them, and have them in stock for immediate delivery. The pattern coins bear three different designs for the eight circulation type coins from €1 to 1¢, plus a fourth design for the €10 denomination. Currently they are only available as a complete set in proof quality. We will post more news and photographs here when available.
