Belarus & The Euro
We believe that Belarus may eventually join the Euro, but not until 2007 or later, after the current batch of a dozen other countries. It is not known whether any official plans have been made to produce pattern designs for a set of Belarusian euro coins.
Independent between the two World Wars, Belarus was annexed by the USSR in 1940. On 11 March 1990, Belarus became the first of the Soviet republics to declare its independence, but this proclamation was not generally recognized until September of 1991 (following the abortive coup in Moscow). The last Russian troops withdrew in 1993. Belarus subsequently has restructured its economy for eventual integration into Western European institutions.
Because of this, Belarus is likely to be one of the last to enter the EU, if at all.

Original priced at around €40, these have changed hands for over €250 on e-bay.
